De Schoolmeester is a Paper mill which is maintained in full working order. It is the only wind powered paper mill in the world. The beautiful Zaansch bord is made here, a paper with many applications in bookbinding. Highly recommended! |

The Royal library of the Netherlands obviously has many books but what makes it truly unique is its focus on bookbinding. They have a special collection of 10.000 items from 1540 to the present day, curated by people who love and know their subject. A must-go for researchers. By appointment only, but well worth the effort. |

Every year in November the Book Art Fair takes place in the beautiful setting of St. Pieterskerk church in Leiden. What sets this fair apart from the others is its focus not only on bookbinding but also on printing, calligraphy and papermaking. The full book arts package with a large amount of suppliers, demos and workshops. Not just worth a visit, worth a trip! |
