Printed tutorial: Pianel binding
€80.00
Learn how to make a Pianel® binding: a bookbinding structure that uses the piano hinge as a main structural and visual feature. Pianel® has a very reduced outlook with all the unsightly elements of the piano hinge tucked away in a neat, nifty construction, leaving only two clean vertical lines on the outside separating the spine and boards. Shiny dots of polished brass rods complete the head and tail.
The process behind the result is simple but requires a lot of precision and planning. A highly rewarding project, packed with many tricks of the trade.
After an introduction, an overview and a list of material and equipment, the tutorial describes every step of the construction, with many full-colour images and line drawings. The exceptionally detailed 56 page booklet is inkjet printed in two languages (French and English) and hand bound by us in Haarlem.
